Philadelphia Car Accident Lawyer: On May 14, 2012, two people were killed on Route 309 in Montgomery County in Pennsylvania when they were struck by another driver. According to conflicting reports, they tried to push their disabled car to safety. Their car broke down on busy Route 309 in the afternoon when it was still light. They came out of the car and tried to push it to safety. A car coming from behind hit and killed them. The driver of the car that struck the two people sustained severe physical injuries and was taken to a hospital. Drivers must be very cautious while driving on a busy highway. They should be vigilant and look out for disabled vehicles or people outside their cars on a roadway.

If your car breaks down on a busy highway, you may panic and feel helpless. Taking special precautions when you are stuck in a disabled vehicle will help you avoid serious injuries and even death.

What to do if your car breaks down on a busy roadway?

Call for help;

Assess your surroundings;

If things seem safe, try to get yourself out of harm's way;

Switch on your emergency flashers, and then, if it is safe, exist the car and wait on the side of the road;

If you cannot exit your car safely because of the traffic, pop the hood and trunk of your car so that people coming from behind can see it;

Keep a brightly-colored scarf in your car for emergency situations and tie it to the door handle or antenna when your vehicle becomes disabled on a busy roadway;

Don't stand outside the car;

If you feel safe, motion the other drivers to go around your vehicle by sticking your hand out the window to let them know that your vehicle is stopped, and you're still in there;

Make sure you're buckled up in case your vehicle is struck from behind.

If you have been in a car accident or if you have lost a love one in a car accident, call the Lassen Law Firm for help.

Priest Abuse Lawyer Philadelphia: On May 10, 2012, a Roman Catholic nun testified in court that she and two relatives were sexually
abused by a priest described by a church leader as "one of the sickest people I ever knew." The nun testified in the clergy-abuse trial of Monsignor William Lynn, the first U.S. church official charged with felony child endangerment for allegedly leaving predator-priests in ministry. The nun said she, her sister and cousin went to the archdiocese in 1991 to report the abuse by the Rev. Nicholas Cudemo that took place in the 1970s, and ask that he be removed as a parish pastor. They met with Monsignors James Molloy and Lynn, who worked in the Office for Clergy. The sisters had been molested as girls and the cousin repeatedly raped, they reported. Cudemo was put on leave and sent for a psychiatric evaluation. But the family soon learned he was saying Mass at other parishes.

The nun said she talked to Lynn about Cudemo again in 1998, when Lynn led the Office for Clergy. Cudemo was allowed to retire in 1996 as a priest in good standing, which made him eligible to say Mass in other dioceses. After the complaints of sexual abuse were made against Cudemo, he was transferred by the church and worked at three archdiocesan high schools from 1969 to 1977. He was later allowed to work at several parishes.

In 2005, the grand jury accused Cudemo of sexually molesting 11 girls. The grand jury report stated that Cudemo violated one girl with a Communion wafer, let another priest have sex with her and took her for an abortion when he got her pregnant in junior high school. The trial has been going on for seven weeks in Philadelphia and has revealed many horrible stories as the victims of sexual abuse are testifying against their perpetrators.

Sexual abuse by a priest is a horrendous crime. If you have been a victim of
sexual abuse by a priest or any religious leader, you have a right to file a civil lawsuit against the perpetrator of the abuse and the institution that acquiesced in or concealed the abuse. Contact the Lassen Law Firm now to learn about your rights to receive compensation for your injuries.

Judge Denies Dominique Strauss-Kahn Diplomatic Immunity / Sexual Assault Lawyers Pennsylvania

Sexual Abuse Lawyer Pennsylvania: Judge Denies Dominique Strauss-Kahn Diplomatic Immunity in Sexual Abuse Suit.

"The reputation of a thousand years may be determined by the conduct of an hour."

A Japanese proverb that appeared in the IMF's 2011 ethics report.

Nafissatou Diallo, the hotel maid who alleged that Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former International Monetary Fund (IMF) head, tried to rape her in his Sofitel Hotel suite in New York City in May 2011, filed a civil sexual assault lawsuit seeking damages.

In May 2011, Diallo accused Strauss-Kahn of forcing her to perform fellatio and pressed criminal charges against him. Strauss-Kahn claimed that the encounter was consensual. DNA evidence suggested that a sexual encounter did take place between them. However, in August 2011, the prosecution dropped the criminal charges in the case saying that Diallo had changed her account of her actions immediately after the incident.

A year after the incident of sexual abuse, the victim of sexual assault by Strauss-Kahn filed a civil lawsuit in New York alleging sexual abuse and assault and seeking money damages. Strauss-Kahn attempted to have the case dismissed on the grounds of diplomatic immunity. Diplomatic immunity is a form of legal immunity held between governments that ensures that diplomats are given safe passage and are considered not susceptible to lawsuit or prosecution under the country's laws.

In May 2012, Bronx Supreme Court Justice Douglas McKeon rejected Strauss-Kahn's defense of diplomatic immunity saying that Strauss-Kahn's voluntary resignation from the IMF terminated the immunity which he enjoyed. The judge also noted that Strauss-Kahn did not claim the defense of diplomatic immunity last year in his criminal case. The Strauss-Kahn sexual assault case will continue and he will most likely be subpoenaed to come to the USA for a deposition.

Unfortunately, sexual abuse and assault cases are prevalent across the country. If you have been a victim of sexual abuse or assault, you may have the right to receive financial compensation for your injuries. An experienced sexual assault attorney will evaluate your case and help you file a civil lawsuit for compensation. The Lassen Law Firm has handled many sexual abuse and assault cases recovering high settlements for its clients. Contact the Lassen Law Firm now for your free confidential consultation.

Bullying In School Leads To A 13-Year-Old Girl Suicide / Philadelphia Lawyers

13 year-old Rachel Ehmke killed herself after months of abuse and bullying at her Kasson, Minnesota middle school. The seventh grader hanged herself after being bullied at school for months by a group of 'mean girls' who tormented her with names and threats of violence. The bullying started in the fall 2011 and escalated to a point where the 13-year-old did not see any other way out but to kill herself. The bullies, a 'clique' of girls, put chewing gum in her schoolbooks, wrote the word 'slut' across her locker, and cornered her in the locker room threatening her. The bullies also sent text messages about Rachel Ehmke calling her a 'slut' and saying she needed to be forced out of school. Rachel and a friend had started to eat their lunch in a locker room to escape the bullies. They even talked about moving to a new school.

Kasson-Mantorville Middle School officials are co-operating with the investigation of the girls involved in the bullying. The school officials were put on notice of the abuse, but did not prevent it. In fact, after Rachel's locker was defaced, it was not cleaned for months!

School officials in bullying cases have a duty to stop bullying and prevent further bullying. As this shocking news shows, bullying is much more serious than adults think it is. When vulnerable children are involved, measures should be taken to stop bullying immediately. Even though Minnesota does not have a bulling statute, the school officials may be liable for fostering harassment. The tormentors of the 13-year-old girl who hanged herself face criminal charges.

If you suspect your child is being bullied in school, you need to contact a bullying lawyer in your state immediately. Bullying can be stopped if school officials respond to the kids' pleas for help and take preventative measures. The Lassen Law Firm, Philadelphia school bullying lawyers, will fight for your child's right to live and study in an environment free from bullying. In addition, monetary compensation is available to victims of institutional abuse, bullying, harassment and teacher abuse. Call the Lassen Law Firm, Pennsylvania bullying lawyers, now to see how we can help.

Penn State Knew Sandusky Was a Pedophile / Sexual Abuse Lawyer Pennsylvania

Sexual Abuse Lawyer Pennsylvania: Penn State had knowledge that Sandusky was a pedophile, but failed to take action and prevent sexual abuse of at least 17 children.

On May 5, 2012, another shocking fact about the Sandusky sexual abuse of Penn State young boys was revealed. In 1998, a psychological assessment report of Sandusky revealed that Jerry Sandusky exhibited signs and behaviors of a pedophile. Psychologist Chambers evaluated the former assistant football coach after the mother of a young boy reported that Sandusky had showered with her son and may have had inappropriate contact with him. The psychologist concluded that Jerry Sandusky was a pedophile and she alerted Penn State police about her findings. The police and Penn State ignored the report. The assessment report suggests the university was warned about Sandusky as early as 1998, but did not stop the alleged abuse.

Instances of Sandusky's inappropriate behavior with boys on Penn State campus are numerous and were documented by Penn State. However, they were not investigated properly and ignored. The sexual abuse of at least 17 children could have been prevented had Penn State fully investigated the child sexual abuse allegation back in 1998.

Unfortunately, cases of institutional abuse (where an institution employing the abuser is put on notice of the abuse but ignores it or fails to act) are common in Pennsylvania and across the country. The law allows the victim of sexual abuse to recover financial compensation by suing the institution that failed to prevent the abuse. If you have suffered sexual abuse at the hands of Sandusky, a coach, a teacher, a priest, or anyone else, please call the Lassen Law Firm, Sexual Abuse Lawyers Pennsylvania, to learn about your legal rights.

Coach Abuse Lawyer Pennsylvania: The country was shocked when it learned that Jerry Sandusky, the 68-year-old former Penn State assistant football coach, sexually abused 10 children while he was serving as their coach. This horrible story of child sex abuse revealed that in 1994, Sandusky had multiple sexual acts with 10 boys, some of whom he met through Second Mile, a charity Sandusky created for underprivileged children.

However, Sandusky sexually abused many more children. In early May 2012, seven more victims of Sandusky child sexual abuse came forward and disclosed the abuse. They joined the original ten accusers to seek justice and punish the child abuse perpetrator.

It is extremely difficult for the victim of sexual abuse, especially a minor, to come forward and disclose the abuse. Shame and fear are difficult to overcome for children hurt by sexual abuse perpetrated by an adult, especially an adult in the position of power – a coach, a teacher, or a religious leader. But there is nothing more gratifying than seeing the abuser get punished for the crime of sex abuse. Disclosing the child sex abuse may help the victim start the path to recovery and bring a sense of closure.

Consulting an experienced Pennsylvania sexual abuse lawyer is completely confidential and will provide you with valuable legal advice. If you, your child, your loved one or anyone you know has suffered sexual abuse at the hands of Sandusky, or any coach, teacher, or a religious leader, please call the Lassen Law Firm,
Pennsylvania sexual abuse lawyers, to find out about how to file a civil lawsuit against the perpetrator of the abuse and the institution that may have acquiesced in the abuse to recover financial compensation.

Please call the Lassen Law Firm now to speak with an experienced Pennsylvania sexual abuse attorney confidentially.

Sandusky Sexual Abuse Lawyers: One of the country's premier college football programs and proudest state universities has been shaken by one of the biggest child sexual abuse cases in Pennsylvania. Police arrested former Penn State defensive coordinator, Jerry Sandusky, and charged him with molesting eight young boys during and after his coaching career. The crimes occurred on the Penn State campus. A graduate assistant allegedly witnessed Sandusky rape a 10-year-old boy in the football team's shower room.

As the cases were developing, the country was shocked to learn that numerous, high ranking officials were informed of Sandusky's crimes yet did nothing to spare other victims sexual abuse and assault. As a result of their concealment and acquiescing in the abuse, two other Penn State officials have been charged with failing to report the incidents as required by law. Joe Paterno, who was the head coach of the Penn State Nittany Lions for nearly 46 years from 1966 through 2011, and university president Graham Spanier have been fired by Penn State's board of trustees. Victims of Sansusky sexual abuse are gaining the courage to come forward and pursue litigation which allows them to not only punish the perpetrator, but also to vindicate their rights and receive financial compensation.

At the Lassen Law Firm, we understand that child sexual abuse is every parent's nightmare. It's a tragedy and trauma affecting the whole family. Sexual abuse affects children the most causing them physical injuries and psychological trauma. The Lassen Law Firm encourages you to consult with our firm, experienced Pennsylvania coach sexual abuse lawyers, to learn about the right to file a civil lawsuit and recover financial compensation. You and your child shouldn't have to carry that burden alone. The law provides a right for child sexual abuse victims to sue their abusers in court to help make sure they pay for their wrongdoing.

In practically every legal situation, you have a certain amount of time to file a lawsuit. This time period is called the statute of limitations. Usually, the clock starts to run on the date of the injury, however, there are exceptions. Some victims of child sexual abuse have trouble remembering it. This can be called repressed memory. The law accounts for this with what's called the delayed discovery rule. This rule stops the statute of limitation from running out if the victim repressed all memory of the abuse or didn't realize the abuse caused current problems. The time allowed for filing a lawsuit is counted in a different way. Usually, the clock begins to run when the victim remembers the sexual abuse.

If your child has been sexually abused, or you were abused as a child, it's important to talk to a qualified Pennsylvania sexual abuse lawyer experienced in child sexual abuse can provide a network of resources to start the healing process and can explain if and how you can win a lawsuit against the abuser. At the Lassen Law Firm, we urge you to come forward with the abuse as soon as possible. Please don't feel ashamed. Money can't reverse time and take away the abuse. But, you and your child may face a long road to physical and emotional recovery. The abuser should be held accountable.

The Lassen Law Firm is licensed in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and serves the nation.

School Bullying Lawyer Pennsylvania / Philadelphia School Harassment Attorney

School Bullying Lawyers Pennsylvania: Most parents simply assume that they have no recourse for school bullying in Pennsylvania, but they do. The Lassen Law Firm,

It is never prudent to ignore school bullying, and you should always call the police immediately if there is any physical assault on your child at school.

School Bullying in Pennsylvania

Teasing student in school

Texting student which disrupts student

Emailing student which disrupts student

Stealing lunch money from student

Stealing personal items from student

Sexual harassment of student in school

With respect to sexual harassment, it is unlawful under Title IX of the Federal Education Amendments of 1972 to discriminate on the basis of sex, and the school districts can be held liable when they know of this harassment and ignore it.

The Lassen Law Firm does not tolerate any bullying or harassment of its clients, and holds the Pennsylvania schools and Pennsylvania school districts responsible for their negligence.

Pennsylvania Boy Scout Sexual Abuse Lawyers: There have been problems with child molesters in the Boy Scouts of America for decades involving both adult volunteers and scoutmasters. The Lassen Law Firm,
Boy Scout Sexual Abuse Attorneys, represents the VICTIMS of sexual abuse throughout Pennsylvania and the nation with the utmost confidentiality and compassion. Our clients have found out that their trust and confidence is not misplaced when they retain our firm.

The Boy Scouts of America used to have an untarnished public image, however, over the last 20 years, the stark realities of the sexual abuse of young boys have come to light. The Boy Scouts of America has attracted countless child molesters because the secluded nature of the overnight camping trips has given these child predators the means, method, and opportunity to commit these heinous crimes under cover of darkness.

The Boy Scouts of America has put some procedures in place in an attempt to curtail the number of sexual predators such as:

Prohibiting skinny dipping

Prohibiting revealing bathing suits

Mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse

Prohibiting one-on-one contact between leader and boy

Separate tents for leader and boy

Requiring two adults on all camping trips

Prohibiting camera use in the showers and restrooms

The reality is that the sexual abuse will continue. When boys have been the victim of abuse by their scout leader, they may feel helpless. It is hard enough for victims to deal with their physical symptoms and recovery, let alone the financial difficulties that are often associated with most Boy Scouts of America sexual abuse injuries. If you or your child has been a victim of sexual abuse in the Boy Scouts of America, the last thing you should have to worry about is your financial security. At the Lassen Law Firm, we believe that our clients should be allowed to focus on getting better without having to stress over their future well-being. We are skilled Pennsylvania sexual abuse lawyers who will aggressively fight for maximum recovery of damages for our clients' serious injuries.

The Lassen Law Firm is comprised of leading Philadelphia sexual abuse attorneys who have extensive legal training in abuse law. If you have questions about a Boy Scouts of America sexual abuse, call The Lassen Law Firm today for your free consultation. We serve all of Pennsylvania and the nation.

The statute of limitations for child abuse cases in PA is twelve years from the age of majority (age 18) thus you are supposed to file before age thirty. However, there are plenty of ways to get around the statute of limitations problem, thus, you can still get compensation if you have the right lawyer.

Personal Injury Lawyer Philadelphia: A statute of limitations is the time limit to actually file your case in court. The statute doesn't start to run until the victim turns 18 (eighteen). There are countless exceptions to the statute of limitations, thus, don't despair if you didn't file within the statutory period. The Lassen Law Firm,
Philadelphia Personal Injury Attorneys, handles all personal injury cases and sexual abuse cases throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania at the
reduced contingency fee of only 29%, not the standard 40-45% like those other firms.

Statute of Limitations Pennsylvania

Personal Injury Statute of Limitations in PA: There is a 2 (two) year statute of limitations in Pennsylvania for personal injury claims. (The statute doesn't start until the victim's 18th birthday)

Medical Malpractice Statute of Limitations in PA: There is a 2 (two) year statute of limitations for medical malpractice cases in Pennsylvania. (The statute doesn't start until the victim's 18th birthday)

Product Liability Statute of Limitations in PA: There is a 2 (two) year statute of limitations in Pennsylvania for defective product cases. (The statute doesn't start until the victim's 18th birthday)

Sexual Abuse Statute of Limitations in PA: There is a 12 (twelve) year statute of limitations in Pennsylvania for sexual abuse cases. (The statute doesn't start until the victim's 18th birthday)

Priest Abuse Statute of Limitations in PA: There is a 12 (twelve) year statute of limitations in Pennsylvania for priest abuse cases. (The statute doesn't start until the victim's 18th birthday) (Exceptions include fraudulent concealment by Church)

Pennsylvania Discovery Rule

The Discovery Rule in Pennsylvania: Many times a victim does not learn about the injury, or does not realize the injury, until considerably later than the act or occurrence. The statute of limitations begins to run when a victim knows, or reasonably should have known, that an injury occurred and was caused by the actions of another person.

Again, there are many exceptions to the statute of limitations, thus, please contact the Philadelphia Personal Injury Lawyers from the Lassen Law Firm to discuss these exceptions.

Sexual abuse also consists of any sexual touching of any senior who is unable to grant consent. If you suspect that your family member has been a victim of elder sexual abuse, you should immediately report it to the police before you call our office.

Truck Accident Lawyer Philadelphia: With more than 1.5 million people residing in Philadelphia, it is not surprising that countless trucks need to come to the city to serve the needs of our residents. With the huge volume of trucks, it is inevitable that accidents will occur. The Lassen Law Firm,
Philadelphia truck accident lawyers, handles all car, truck and tractor trailer accidents in Philadelphia and throughout Pennsylvania at the
reduced contingency fee of only 29%, not the standard 40-45% like the other firms.

We all are well aware that the trucking industry is an enormous resource for Pennsylvania's economy, bringing in almost 25 billion dollars each year to the state. The residents of Philadelphia and Pennsylvania count on the trucking industry to deliver food, alcohol, clothes and numerous other types of consumer products.

Currently, in 2012, there are about 3.5 million trucks and tractor trailers in operation on the nation's roads which travel countless miles transporting consumer goods across the country and through Pennsylvania. If we didn't have these trucks, Pennsylvania and our great nation wouldn't run smoothly. However, not a single day goes by, when there aren't several truck and tractor trailer accidents in Pennsylvania.

The main reason for so many accidents in Pennsylvania is that trucking companies subject their drivers to tight and usually unattainable delivery schedules. We have all driven on Pennsylvania roads and highways and have experienced these trucks traveling at high rates of speed, and frankly, it has become increasingly scary to drive on the same roads with these vehicles.

Due to the high cost of gasoline, trucking companies are forcing their truck drivers to make more deliveries each day, and consequently, to log more miles than ever before. These truck and tractor trailer drivers struggle to cope with driver fatigue, and many resort to taking
drugs so they can stay awake for days at a time. Although truck driver fatigue and rampant drug use among truckers are major factors with respect to the occurrence of truck and tractor trailer accidents in Pennsylvania, there are numerous other factors including
alcohol use and
texting while driving which also contribute to the high number of truck accidents.

Another leading cause of truck and tractor trailer accidents in Pennsylvania is the improper maintenance of these trucks by the trucking companies which own them. All too often, our law firm finds out that the
brakes were worn out or the
tires were bald, which caused these truck and tractor trailers to fail to stop and to collide with the cars in front of them.

Although there are countless other causes of truck and tractor accidents in Philadelphia and in Pennsylvania, this article has touched on the most prevalent ones. Unfortunately, there is not much our firm can do to prevent these accidents, however, the Lassen Law Firm can fight to ensure that victims of a serious tractor trailer accident in Philadelphia get the maximum amount of compensation available under Pennsylvania law.

Churches Buying Pedofile Policies En Masse / Clergy Abuse Lawyer Philadelphia

Clergy Abuse Lawyer Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:Would you believe that churches in Pennsylvania are purchasing pedofile insurance coverage? The answer is
yes, and with good reason. Philadelphia seems to be the new hub for priest sexual molestation. Pennsylvania has had 363 publically accused priests, second only to California, which has the unfortunate distinction of having 483 publically accused priests, the highest number in the nation. However, the population of California is 3 times the size of Pennsylvania. You do the math.

The majority of recent insurance policies exclude molestation, but very few older policies have exclusions. Many new polices which I have read have an "intentional act exclusion" which excludes bodily injury "that is expected or intended by the insured." Although there has been much litigation on this point, most courts have barred insurance coverage even when the abuser claims that he didn't have the subjective intent to harm the child.

Thus, due to the exclusion of sexual abuse and molestation on general liability policies, insurance companies have developed "abuse and molestation insurance" aka "child sexual abuse liability insurance" and "insurance against improper conduct or child molestation", specifically tailored to the needs of Churches (as well as other organizations such as camps and sports leagues). There is a steep premium for these child molestation policies, and calculating this premium apparently is extremely tough, as the policies need to cover not only cover the individual acts of a priest, but mulitple priests and the employer/church for negligent hiring practices, negligent supervision, failure to act, etc.
